I posted about making sugar cookies on Instagram and received a number of emails (and comments) asking for the recipe. I figured I should share it here! (I love hearing how much everyone loved my our family favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe.)
The recipe is from my mom’s best friend from college’s mom’s recipe. My mom makes cut-outs allthe time. They are SO good.
Ingredients:
– 4 cups of flour
– 3 teaspoons of baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon of salt
– 1 1/2 cup of sugar
– 1 1/3 cup of Crisco
– 3 teaspoons of vanilla
– 2 eggs
– 8 teaspoons of milk
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. Blend sugar, Crisco, vanilla, and eggs
4. Add flour mix to sugar mix
5. Add milk, one teaspoon at a time
6. Mix until blended. Divide into two parts, wrap each in wax paper. Chill for one hour.
7. Roll out, cut out, and bake for 8-10 minutes.
Cool, ice, decorate.
My notes:
– My mom is a purist and glazes her cookies. It’s a quick mix of butter, vanilla, powdered sugar, and milk.
– The dough is unbelievably tough to mix well, but worth it. Just consider it your afternoon workout.
– When rolling out, put a sheet of wax paper (+ flour!) between the rolling pin and your dough. Work in batches!

Hi! Can you please share your mom’s purist recipe for glaze? It’s so hard to find a recipe that’s not royal icing or without corn syrup or eggs!

sweet moments from my camera roll ✨ I think these sum up pretty accurately what the last few weeks have looked like. Snuggling on the couch under piles of blankets 🛋️ family walks around town 🛴 reading our favorite books together in the nursery 📚
There’s something special about getting to do the newborn stage over again with your second baby. It’s exhausting, and tiring, and overwhelming…. But you know just how fast it’s going to go by. I am soaking up every second of the contact naps, newborn scent, and (yes!) even the cluster feeding. 🤍🍼☁️ Leave a comment with “outfit” and I’ll send you links to what I’m wearing (+ the stroller and headphones) 🧥

No one will know the size of your jeans but they’ll know if they don’t fit! Struggling with my postpartum body… and just decided to go to the store and buy jeans that fit! Who knows what will happen down the road (my postpartum body always feels foreign for a while), but for now I have jeans that fit and that I feel good in. 🫶🏻 Leave a comment with “jeans” and I’ll send you links for my outfit! 🔗

Can’t wait to fill Rory’s @petitekeep trunk with special memories and treasures 🫶🏻 Jack’s is tucked away in his closet and every once in a while I open it up to store another item and reminisce on all the wonderful moments of his life so far. Love these keepsakes 🤍🍼👶🏼

After quite a tough pregnancy, from the first days all the way to the very end, I’m finally starting to feel like myself again! Nothing better than feeling a bit more “me.” I am trying to prioritize taking care of myself by carving out little slivers of time to do things that I enjoy… I don’t have unlimited time for hobbies, but I’ll take what I can get! I’m working on a couple of small needlepoint projects and I’m excited to start on Rory’s stocking soon🧵 🪡
