Whatchamacallit Candy Bar Recipe (copycat)

If you have ever had a Whatchamacallit Candy Bar then you know how amazing the combination of peanut butter, chocolate and marshmallows can be. The bar’s irresistible characteristics are hard to beat, but we think we came pretty close!

The original candy bar is a very unique combination and myCopycat Whatchamacallit Candy Bar Recipe hits it pretty close!

This is a layer process, but pretty easy and well worth the extra steps because trust me, your family will be begging you to make these again and again!

Speaking of Whatchamacallit candy bars, did you see the new Whozeewhatzit bar from the Hershey company? Apparently they released a naming contest request to Whatchamacallit fans and challenged them to come up with something similar to the beloved Whatchamacallit brand. It’s a new bar that was just released and is the result of creative naming ideas from fans. I love the new candy bar product name and I can’t wait to try it!

So – back to the mission at hand – I’m a huge Whatchamacallit bar fan. The bar’s irresistible characteristics of peanut butter crisp, thin layer of chocolate and chewy caramel have always been one of my favorite candy bars.

If you love Whatchamacallit bars too then I’d love for you to try out this recipe and let me know what you think!

How to make the Caramel Layer

In a medium sized bowl melt one stick of butter in the microwave. This should take about 50-60 seconds.
To the melted butter add your sweetened condensed milk, light corn syrup and light brown sugar and whisk until combined.
Place your caramel mixture in the microwave and cook on high for six minutes.
You will know your caramel is done when you place a dime sized amount into a cup of ice water and it forms a ball you can roll between your fingers. If the caramel is too soft microwave it for another 30 seconds. You want it the consistency of peanut butter.
Allow the caramel to cool in your mixing bowl for about 10-15 minutes so it is spreadable.
Spread the caramel mixture over the peanut butter cereal mixture.

How to make the Chocolate Layer

Melt your semi sweet chocolate chips in a double boiler until smooth. Do not use the microwave to melt your chocolate chips. It will pull the moisture from the chocolate and cause it to seize up.
I put my semi sweet chocolate chips in a small sauce pot and place that small pot inside a larger pot that has about a half inch of water in the bottom.

Medium heat will cause the water to simmer and melt the chips inside the smaller pot as the damp heat flows around it.
Once your chocolate has melted, use a spatula to spread it on top of the caramel mixture.
Slice.

The end result is a satisfying snack and a filling dessert idea! Very similar to the famous candy bar made by the Hershey Co. – this chocolatey candy will remind you of the original Whatchamacallit candy bar and probably take you back a few years. It’s also a quick snack that is very satisfying.

We love copycat recipes, how about you? I love finding ways to recreate our favorite original candy bars. It’s a fun and affordable way to have these treats at home, instead of having to go out to grab them. What candy bar shall we attempt next? Kit Kats or maybe something with a peanut butter creme layer. I’m already thinking of new copycat ideas and possible names for my creations!

Hopefully you will love our copycat Hershey’s Whatchamacallit milk chocolate candy bar – the feedback on this recipe has been amazing and we had so much fun creating it. Creating an everyday candy bar at home (for a fraction of the price) is a real treat, literally!

I love these bars for curbing hunger in the late afternoon – anything with a chocolate coating is a great pick me up!

Now that you know how to make a copycat whatchamacallit chocolate bar, maybe I need to work on a copycat of the new whozeewhatzits candy bars!
