Bay Analysis and Theorycraft – Should You Pull? | Nikke: Goddess of Victory (2)

Skill 1 – You Can do it

Activates if self survives when using Burst Skill. Affects all allies.
Proportionally shares damage taken continuously.
DEF 10.13% ▲ of caster’s DEF continuously.

A rather unique skill on present on passives on certain Nikkes (Poli, Jackal, Yulha). However what makes this interesting is that it is permanent after one proc of her full burst. Basically giving a permanent damage share which can be helpful in some boss battles.

However her def up is too little to matter and won’t help team survivability in any meaningful way. This is due to how the def formula works in the game. More details explained here

Skill 2 – Cheer up together

Activates if self survives when using Burst Skill. Affects all allies
Proportionally shares damage taken continuously.
Activates when Full Burst ends. Affects self
Constantly recovers Cover’s HP by 2.88% of caster’s final Max HP every 1 sec for 5 sec

Her skill is rather confusing. Despite the same wording, her effect here is that she SHARES damage to her cover permanently after her first burst. Only hers, other Nikke covers are unaffected, this technically makes her share damage amongst 6 entities instead of 5 as long as her cover is not destroyed.

Interestingly, it seems that when she damage shares with her cover, cover def is also factored in (cover has their own def, and its pretty big + unaffected by CP deficit), alongside her own def (?).
So damage share can be much greater than just being divided by 6 depending on content.

Will look into the numbers further to pinpoint what’s the interaction here. Enemies hitting her cover directly will still transfer damage to her HP and the team via damage share still. Cover does not seem to noticeably receive more or less damage when damage shared.

Burst: First Winner

Affects self.
Cover’s Max HP ▲ 18% of the caster’s Max HP. lasts for 20 sec.
Affects all allies.
Damage Taken ▼ 8.87% for 10 sec.

Bay increases Cover max HP. This serves as a Max cover Boost + repair as it is worded similarly to Tia’s skill 2, and Tia’s skill 2 does such. She also provides a rather small damage reduction buff

Burst will most likely be activated once or a few times per match as she doesn’t recover enough cover HP to before getting destroyed since most damage will be directed to her cover. Most of her kit is already activated at the start of her burst, and it’s her damage share. Her paired BII (Since she’s 40s CD) will be bursting instead, assumingly paired with a 20s CD Burst II that provides more utility than her Burst does.

Although her burst does need to be re-activated if cover is destroyed, and is rebuilt (Biscuit) to proc cover damage share again

Campaign

Damage share doesn’t quite have a place in Campaign, especially as a 40s burst II. The damage loss is simply too great when using a 1-2-2 Burst formation and the Commander is better off using a burst generator or simply a 20s CD Burst II.

Arena

Her major standout is team-wide damage share, and while she would apply it after her burst, it can potentially have some interesting use cases, like diluting AOE nukes’ crits or enabling tougher stall comps. her damage share on her cover can raise her utility since damage would be getting distributed amongst 6 entities, and could have some synergy with Biscuit’s cover repair on really stall-oriented teams.

Unsure if her strange cover def (?) mechanic shown in skill 2 exists in arena as well, greatly reducing incoming damage. If this is the case, Bay may be able to greatly reduce Nuke damage. More testing will be required

Overall, Bay looks like an interesting unit for Arena that will give us theory crafters something to do before the mid anniversary.

Special Interception | Union Raid | Solo Raid

Bay’s cover looks like it would be destroyed immediately against bosses that can hit rather hard, even with cover repair. Which means that her only optimal team, if wanting to take advantage of her cover damage share, is with Biscuit. Biscuit will be able to repair Bay’s cover every other burst rotation, to reduce pressure on the team. Although Bay does not provide DPS utility, she can possibly greatly increase team survivability.

Bay can possibly help players against Alteisein and blacksmith in Special Interception, due to their overwhelming single target damage, which can nuke down most Nikkes in one barrage, especially Alteisein. Bay can enable the team to receive a bit more punishment before going down via damage share, however do note that this can result in a insta-loss due to all the team members dying at the same moment if it comes to that point, which may submit undesired scores.

Biscuit Team

Dorothy,Biscuit,Bay,Anis: sparkling summer,privaty
  • Dorothy Replacements – any Cool down reduction Nikke if not pairing with Privaty and Anis: Sparkling summer
  • Anis: Sparkling summer and Privaty Replacements – Any of your preferred DPS’s

Should you pull?

No. While it is still unknown how viable she is in PvP, it is unlikely to be game-changing. And even if she is, she can be recruited in the wish list. She’s a bit too niche for PvE, especially with her 40s CD on her burst, and half anniversary is just right around the corner.

However.

Do it for her anyways.
